Welcome to my personal page. Since September 2018, I am Chair of the Institute Technologies and Management of Digital Transformation at the University of Wuppertal. I am also the institute director of the In-Institute for Systems Research in Information, Communication and Media Technology (SIKOM), deputy director of the Interdisciplinary Center for Data Analytics and Machine Learning (IZMD) and founding ambassador of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Information Technology and Media Technology. I am also a co-founder of Hotsprings GmbH.
In my daily work, I am dedicated to digital transformation, in particular two focus areas. First, my research deals with the design, development and implementation of autonomous technical systems with a focus on Deep Learning and Machine Learning. Second, I am dedicated to methods for collecting and integrating digital data with a particular focus on the evolutionary construction and management of Knowledge Graphs.
I have a degree in computer science with a focus on data mining as well as data exploration and management and a PhD in mechanical engineering. From October 2015 to August 2018, I was junior professor and managing director of the Institute for Information Management in Mechanical Engineering (IMA) at RWTH Aachen University. Among other things, my research was part of the Cluster of Excellence “Integrative Production Technology for High-Wage Countries”. In March 2010, together with other researchers, I was awarded the Young Researcher Award as part of the first funding phase of the Excellence Initiative.
I have co-authored and authored more than a hundred scientific publications and regularly serve as a reviewer for various conferences and journals. In recent years, my team and I have successfully supported a large number of research and development projects with research and industry partners around the world.
